Why Everything Is For Sale (Yeah Baby, Even You!)

ATTENTION!
Calling on my wild imagination to proceed to the front desk please!
Wild imagination. Front desk. Thank you!

I’m a purple genie in a bottle and your wish is my command. Dream of anything you like and I’ll make it come true, free of charge and with a lifetime guarantee.

No, no! Don’t get up. I’ll get it for you. What do you need? A doctor’s degree? A beautiful bride who never nags? A new racecar with that zillion horsepower thing all men brag about? Anything at all and no strings attached.

Suspicious? Well, you better be!

Now let me use my magic powers to hack into your brain. You’re probably thinking there’s a catch or an ulterior motive behind all this generous giving. It doesn’t necessarily have to be an evil plan or anything; maybe I’m just desperate to graduate “Genie School” and for that to happen I need to make at least one human’s dreams come! So that’s when you’ll start thinking, “Hmmmm if an undergraduate has this much power, what would a professor Genie be able to do for me?” and hence nothing you get would be good enough. (I finally used the word ‘hence’ in my writings, yay!)

Now back to our boring reality. What if I’m just a normal person offering you all the above in return for some ‘affection’? I’ll give you my house, my car, my money and even my Milky Way chocolates! (Just the thought of giving away my Milky Ways is causing me palpitations but let’s try to move past that lol). And all I want back is for you to like me. Would you start getting a little skeptical? Or would that make you look down on me and search for someone better? Someone who is not desperate to be loved and admired? Someone who isn’t trying to buy your love but rather is worthy of your respect?

Perhaps my honesty is making you feel awkward or shocked, but come on people, who are we kidding? Since the days of Prophet Adam, we’re always yearning for what we can’t get. No one puts effort and passion in winning what they already have! Phrases like “Taken for granted” and “You don’t know what you have till it’s gone” did not just fall upon us from the skies. It’s out of bitter experience that we know this: Unless you earn something or know you might one day lose it, you’ll never know the value of anything!

When The Price Is Never Right

I don’t know about the chocolates but all those material things can eventually be replaced once you lose them. If you give someone all your money and they betray your trust, you’ll find a way to earn it back. It’s the things that are irreplaceable that matter the most … your time, your pride, your morals, your dignity … and your heart …

How many stories did you hear of young girls eloping or giving themselves away to guys, hoping to be loved and yet end up abandoned with a broken heart? How many vulnerable women have let down their guards and allowed men to lead them on? Which principles did you have to give up to fit in with a ‘cool’ group of friends? We all have a dire need to be acknowledged and appreciated, but at what cost? Tell me honestly, are you for sale? And if you are, who decides your price?

Let It Go And Walk Away

That’s the simplest and most cliché advice anyone would ever give you when someone who doesn’t know your value breaks your heart. But I for one disagree because this advice is just not realistic. It wasn’t destiny that left you aching, it was you not knowing how precious and valuable you are! It was you who gave so much, hoping to be loved, yet ended up feeling small and rejected. I talk to you like a sister or a brother when I say this … We live in a cruel world … With vultures emotionally abusing people and toying with their feelings. The people that say they love us hurt us, not because they’re bad or mean, but because we let them! It’s you who writes the price on the tag of your heart and soul, and if you’re willing to give it away for nothing, then that’s exactly what you’ll be left with. Nothing at all …

The Truth Behind All The Lies

This beautiful heart of yours was not created to be abused …
This pure soul was not given to you to taint and corrupt …
This powerful mind is not obsolete just because others don’t value it …
‘You’ are not yours to give away to someone who doesn’t deserve it …
You’re unique and precious and oh so exquisite … Just take a look at ‘you’!
The price is so high that only ONE can afford it …

“Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise … And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.” {Surat At-Tawbah, 9-111}

Remember Who You Are

The second God breathed into you from His Spirit, you became special, blessed and favored and no power on Earth could ever take this status away. The reason we feel lonely is not because we need attention from others but it’s because we need to re-connect with ourselves and remember are own worth. Don’t treat such a priceless treasure like it’s cheap and easily attained. Everything comes and goes except for your own principles, like a vase, once broken its pieces will never fit the same again. Whether it’s for love or money or fame, if it doesn’t please your Creator who owns you, then the price is never right. If it leaves you feeling shattered and small and desperate then it’s not worth it! Nothing will ever be worth it.

Guard your heart and your pride until you’re not blinded by love …
Until you’re enlightened with how great and precious you are …
Those who have mistreated the gem inside of you will soon regret it, and will perhaps learn to take care of the next one they find …

But as far as you’re concerned, the darkness they’ve filled your life with should only make you shine brighter…
Keep your head high and remember who you are … There’s only one of ‘you’ and you’re needed so badly!
There are hundreds of men and women and friends out there waiting … People who will cherish you and become better with you … and all they dream of …
Is to see you smile …
