Don’t Click This Link!

You’re not alone. I would have clicked the link, too. Isn’t it interesting that when we are told not to do something, we become more determined to do it? This is the nature of man. Unfortunately, we’re a rebellious species.

When Allah tells us in the Qur’an that certain things are prohibited, it’s because He knows what will harm us versus what will benefit us.

Let me give you a quick example.

When you purchase a new device, be it a phone, computer, anything, it comes with a manual does it not? I know no one really reads manuals, but think about it, why do they come with products? Manuals come with products because the designers, developers, and manufacturers of those products know the devices better than we do. Inside those manuals, you will find both, guidance and a warning. Sound familiar?

Now, if the manufacturer of a device – let’s just say a camera – warns you to keep the sun out of the frame or to immediately turn the camera off in the event of a malfunction, you’d heed those warnings, right? We would obey those rules because we know that optimal performance and longevity of said product depends on it. Are our products more important than we are?

When Allah tells us certain things are prohibited, it’s not because He wants to be hard on us. On the contrary, it’s because He wants what’s best for us.

“… Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship …” {Qur’an 2:185}

  1. Assalamu ‘alaykum,
    OK I’m guilty, I did click on the link!
    More seriously, jazak Allahu kheyran for this reminder which relies on common sense and logic. We know that’s not always the case, sometimes we just have to take a leap of faith to believe our Creator knows best, subhanahu wa ta’ala.
    May Allah ‘azza wa jal guide us and keep us firm on His straight path.
