One of the things that have gone viral in our society nowadays is that people in every category of life lack happiness. We see students that consider their education a burden, keeping relationships a burden, jobs a burden and so on. We have also seen that with the passage of time, our knowledge and understanding of the world has increased greatly. On the contrary, our lives have become much more complicated and unhappier than ever before. So clearly increasing our knowledge of the world will not benefit us in this regard. Happiness and sufferings are therefore two different states of minds and hence to understand that we need to understand our mind. What is growth? It is when you become mature. When do you become mature? It is when we understand what life is.

The Three Things That Were Loved

I want to share with you my favorite Hadith (narration). I found it in my copy of “Preparing for the Day of Judgement” by Imam Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani (translated by S.M. Hasan Al-Banna) in the Chapter “Counsel in Threes”. Included under each part of the Hadith is the tafseer (explanation) that was explained to me by Ustadh Usama Canon.

Seeing the Light

One year ago, my personal life flipped on its head. I was happily married, had two beautiful healthy girls, a house, a great job, and a great life. And in a blink, it was threatened April fools 2014. In a short time, lies, betrayal and disrespect were exposed in my marriage, the job I loved was ripped away from me on a technicality, and I lost friends due to both.
